Took a while to find this one: It's a Shure Model 730A/or B "Uniplex" Crystal Microphone. An early unidirectional/cardioid design, made for "...adverse conditions of background noise and reverberation where a conventional microphone would be practically useless.". I can't imagine it would have sounded all that great, although probably one of the better fidelity Crystal Mics of the 1940's (not a technology known for terribly lifelike sound reproduction; although not quite as "coarse"-sounding as the once-common Carbon element mics).

Would make a nice harp mic.

There is also a 730S, circa 1942. The S referred to the stand that came with it.
