Well...
We can safely presume this is a heck of a nice guy, who must be thrilled to pieces with his narration being installed in that remarkable and iconic monorail transport system. So we must grant him a pass for the overall job. After all, the voice is well modulated, articulate and pleasant. My issues would be the overt hand of corporate marketing and legal departments "riding shotgun" over each and every syllable: Producing a stiff and personality-stifled human-like Voice for the system to relate to captive passengers through. Jack was a delightfully polished official tour guide; alternately reassuring yet positively authoritative throughout the day, keeping us all comfortably civilized, and efficiently organized for safe and trouble free park operations. Nowadays, Legal & Marketing executive power dominates Creative storytelling content and execution with such overwhelming force as to filter & constrict such announcing pieces down to bare frameworks of human speech, having no distinctive coloration or features required to hear a believably living presence or recognizable relation to a face behind the words that unspool at the touch of a worn "autoplay" button.
Until Disney corporate culture ever shifts back towards an appropriate Creative vs Executive balance of authority, this is about the best we're going to get for now... |
